A.P. Tureaud was a civil rights activist, lawyer, and educator from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was born on February 26, 1899, and died on January 22, 1972. Tureaud was the longtime president of the Louisiana State Conference of the NAACP and played a key role in fighting against racial segregation in the state's schools, public transportation, and voting rights. He also served as a lawyer in many prominent civil rights cases, including the landmark case of Brown v. Board of Education which led to the desegregation of public schools across the United States. Tureaud was a champion for justice and equality and his legacy lives on in the ongoing fight for civil rights.
